this project's goal is to build serial cable that connects directly to the playstation2's EE processor. it needs 5 wires soldered onto the ps2 mainboard, and a simple interface circiut to convert the EE's voltage levels to the standard RS232 levels.
mrbrown@0xd6.net 이 만든 이 포스트에는 ps2 개조에 대한 이야기들이 나온다. ps2의 EE에 직접적으로 시리얼 케이블을 연결해 접속할수가 있다. 실제로 간단한 몇번의 작업을 하면, 작업을 마칠수 있다. 단지 납땜을 할때 주의 해야한다. 그게 가장 어려운 부분 --;

this is a complete picture. See? that's RS232 cable...
if you complete the serial cable, you can test it by setting your terminal app to 38400 8N1 and powerng on the PS2. (cable supports up to 1152000 bps)
part list.
MAX3323EEPE 1 ea from Maxim
0.1uF monolythic Capatitors 5 ea from radio shack
female DB9 connector 1 ea from radio shack
plastic db9 hood 1 ea from radio shack
16pin ic socket 1 ea from radio shack
dual pc board 1 ea from radio shack
it's all you need.
this is serial cable schematic.
he used the color scheme for the wire on the ps2 mainboard and the interface circuit.
red : +3.3V
black : GND
white : EE core voltage(Vcore)
blue : EE_TXD / PC_TXD
green : EE_RXD / PC_RXD
first picture.
it's the EE's serial port that you should see green square-shaped pads on this picture. the top pad is EE_TXD. EE_RXD pin is above EE_TXD.
사진에서 보면 잘나타나는데, 해당 핀에 정확하게 납땜을 해야 한다. 조심...
you'll see the EE_TXD and EE_RXD pin on this picture. you must soldering carefully to avoid touching the soldering iron to the via. and connect EE_TXD to its pad.
the last is EE core voltage(labeled Vcore).
the picture to reassemble the ps2. thread the wires through the screw hole.
this is the interface circiut. you can get the schematic at the top of this page.
you can start your terminal app. you set your serial port parameters to 38400 8N1. the ps2's bios initializes the port to these parameters, and outputs boot messgaes during startup.
if you boot up the ps2 and see these messages then all is well.
